I believe that philosophers have an important role to play in informing public debate and improving the quality of decision making amongst policy makers and professionals. To further this goal I try to ensure that my philosophical arguments are not only justified but also practical, in that they can be used in constructing models for policy making, and motivating, in that they appeal to values that have been shown to have the power to change people's behaviour. As a postdoctoral researcher I have submitted evidence to the UK Parliamentary Select Committee on Science and Technology enquiry into Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. I also currently serve as Research Advisor to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Future Generations.

I helped produce the following short video on population ethics in conjunction with the think tank CoVi, which was presented to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Population, Sustainable Development and Reproductive Health

I have 5 years experience as a political researcher and consultant in Public Affairs. This was mainly spent working freelance in and around Westminster.  I produced high quality research on a range of policy issues and provided analytical support in campaigning, lobbying and parliamentary process.

Key highlights of my work include:
  1. I was a member of the Federal Policy Working Group and Quality of Life for the Liberal Democrats and co-wrote its final report: Quality of Life a new purpose for politics
  2. I was a writer for the think tank Res Publica, producing many op ed articles for their web site and contributing to their work on energy market reform
  3. I was a Parliamentary and Policy Consultant for the campaign group Dignity in Dying and wrote their report A law out of step
  4. I was an associate researcher for the think tank Ekklesia writing their report Examining, evaluating and exploring Spiritual Capital

I am Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Liberal Democrats in Dartford at the 2017 UK General Election, where I also stood in 2015.
